2012 YCI Mexico Graduations

Truly momentous YCI graduation ceremonies took place in Puerto Vallarta, Cancun and Mexico City to celebrate the achievements of 52 young people who successfully completed an intensive 24-week employability training delivered in partnership with 11 top hotels in Mexico.

The proud graduates were accompanied by their families and friends, as well as their teachers and mentors from the participating hotels and other supporting organisations. The events marked an extraordinary day for everyone.

2012 YCI Ethiopia Graduation

In February 2012 the ten participants successfully finished the training and Sheraton Addis organised a beautiful graduation ceremony where the youngsters could celebrate their achievement alongside their family and friends, as well as their teachers and mentors at the hotel.

Sheraton Addis first implemented the YCI programme in 2005 and so far 35 young people in four cohorts have been through the initiative and have moved on to find jobs in the hospitality industry, as well as in other service-based sectors such as banking.

New Partners in Brazil

In 2012, YCI secured the local support of two new organisations: Aldeias Infantis SOS Brasil (SOS Children’s Villages Brazil) in São Paulo and the Centre for Digital Inclusion in Rio de Janeiro.

Two key criteria for the selection of these new partners were their ability to access YCI’s student target group and their expertise in and commitment towards youth development programmes. The transition process was assisted by IDIS.
