YCI ETHIOPIA

Programme Overview

The Sheraton Addis first piloted YCI in 2005 when it offered the opportunity to develop a range of life and work skills to ten young participants. Since then, the hotel has continued to operate the programme, which involves 24 weeks of training and typically runs from March until August every year.

YCI graduates have gained employment with renowned employers including Hibret Bank and the Water Works Authority as well as positions within the hotel industry in Ethiopia and overseas. Expansion opportunities to grow the programme in Addis Ababa are being considered in order to increase the local training capacity by engaging other qualifying properties and relevant partners from the not-for-profit sector.
