YCI JORDAN

Programme Overview

YCI was first launched in the Middle East region in 2007 when Marriott, Four Seasons and Starwood properties piloted the programme in Amman. After three years of operation, YCI in Jordan has grown from strength to strength and two more hotels have since joined the initiative: a Hyatt property and a second Starwood hotel.

Under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah, the Jordan River Foundation (JRF) has been coordinating the local operation of the programme successfully since its initial stages of implementation. JRF has brought in a number of non-profit partners that have provided further support and added value to the training programme in Amman. The YCI training cycle in Amman typically runs from November until April.

The Grand Hyatt Amman Hotel hosted a celebration to mark the graduation of 24 young Jordanians from the fourth year of the Youth Career Initiative (YCI) in Jordan.

The graduates began the programme in November 2010 with the aim of learning a range of life and work skills that would enhance their employability as well as their expectations of a better future.

YCI Jordan 2010 Graduation

YCI Jordan recently celebrated the graduation of its third batch of young trainees from four leading hotels in Jordan. The ceremony was sponsored by Sheraton Amman as part of its continued support to Jordan’s community. The annual event took place under the patronage of Maha Al Khateeb, Jordan’s Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, who presented the certificates to 20 graduates. She also stressed on the role of the tourism sector as a significant and promising provider for employment in Jordan.

The batch of 20 graduates included the first Jordanian female to attend the programme who trained at Sheraton Amman, which garnered significant media attention.
