The curriculum for the YCI programme includes a number of hours learning practical skills such as how to write a CV, where to look for a job and personal grooming for the workplace. There are also elective modules that allow the hotel to formulate their own lessons in whatever they choose. This can include lessons to build team spirit such as dance or yoga classes, or can be something more aimed at the hospitality profession such as “a day in the life of a General Manager.”
The success of each country programme is helped by the assistance of volunteers who have special skills that are relevant to the training. Some examples are set out below. If you live near the location of one of our programmes, have a relevant skill and would like to offer your time as a volunteer, please contact us.
Some examples include:
- careers advisor
- life skills coach
- personal finance and budgeting
- yoga or dance instructor
- communications expert
- IT professional
- English teacher
- business etiquette
- environmental expert
